The Television Game Show: A Symposium
Friday, June 20, 2008 (Please register as soon as possible)
2 p.m. to 4.30 p.m.
Centre for the Study of Media and Culture in Small Nations, ATRiuM Cardiff
The symposium will bring together academics and industry practitioners.
The keynote speaker will be GARRY WHANNEL, Professor of Media Cultures at Bedfordshire University
Dr. GLEN CREEBER of Aberystwyth University will respond to his address.
The second part of the symposium will comprise a moderated panel discussion, to include questions from the floor. Garry and Glen will be joined by DOMINIC TOLFTS, production designer on a wide range of light entertainment programmes including Britain's Got Talent, Celebrity Love Island and Mr and Mrs (the 'new' version) and by JOHN MEAD, a former television presenter and an experienced producer-director for HTV and the ITV network.
John has devised, produced and directed a number of television game shows, including All in the Game, A Question of Stars, Cuckoo in the Nest and About Face. Details of most of these will be found on UKGameShows.com
